Denmark’s Minister for Digitisation Caroline Stage wants the country to become more independent of tech giants, including Microsoft.

A new strategy for digitisation agreed between the government and regional and municipal authorities will pursue “digital sovereignty”.

This means that over half of staff at the ministry will move during the next month from Microsoft Office products to open source alternatives such as Libre Office. All staff at the ministry will use open source software by the end of the year, according to the report.
