The Canadian economy gained 90,000 jobs in April, much higher than economists had predicted

Statistics Canada states employment increased by 90,000 (+0.4%) in April, and the unemployment rate was unchanged at 6.1%. The employment rate held steady at 61.4%, following six consecutive monthly declines.
